What Is Your Experience In Defending DUI Cases In Florida?

I've been practicing law since 1980, when I graduated from Case Western Reserve Law School in Cleveland. I graduated in the top ten percent of my class and immediately went to work as a felony prosecutor in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. I handled lots of different kinds of cases, including half a dozen death penalty cases, as well as murders, robberies, rapes, drug cases, and public corruption cases. I left there at the end of 1995 to go into private practice. I built up a law practice from scratch.

In 2002, I started focusing on DUI defense. I was doing general criminal defense work in Florida and decided to strictly focus my practice strictly on DUI defense. Beginning in 2004, I started doing coursework. I took the class that the police take to become certified as a DUI officer. I got certified as a practitioner of DUI investigation. I became certified as an instructor of DUI investigation. In 2006, I took the Drug Recognition Evaluator course, which is how they teach officers to recognize people who are impaired by drugs, as opposed to alcohol. I became certified on the Intoxilyzer 8000, which is Florida's official breath test instrument and then, I taught the DWI detection course for Lorman Educational Services in 2005 and 2006.

In 2014, I was named to the faculty of the National College for DUI Defense summer session, which is taught at Harvard Law School every summer and I've been on the faculty there since then. I was a featured speaker at the National College for DUI Defense summer session at Harvard Law School. I've tried over 300 jury trials.

Do Most People Assume It Is Easy To Plead Guilty To A DUI And Get It Over With?

Most of my clients have already decided that it's worth the time, effort, and the money to fight their case by the time they call me. In almost every case, it's a serious mistake to go forward with a DUI case without consulting a lawyer because these are very complicated cases and there's a lot that can go wrong.
