Bradenton, Florida is a "twin city" with Sarasota, but has a far-different feel. While Sarasota is a shining bastion of high society, Bradenton is a working town, dominated by corporate citizens like Tropicana, Champs Sporting Goods and Beall's Department Stores, all headquartered here.
Bradenton is very similar geographically to Sarasota, but it has a distinctly "old Florida" feel. Old Main Street is a throwback to a slower and gentler time, and is only a few steps from the riverfront marina and the Manatee Players Theater.
Manatee County's barrier islands feel like a tropical hideaway. Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key are across the Intracoastal Waterway from Bradenton, and the village of Cortez is a throwback to the Olde Florida fishing villages of the 1930's and 1940's.
A more recent development is the development of Lakewood Ranch, at the east side of Bradenton. It is a mammoth planned community, with all types of housing, as well as shopping, dining and entertainment centers, and a mall which is set to open in autumn, 2014. Its parks, trails and recreational facilities make Lakewood Ranch a very attractive destination for new arrivals in the Bradenton area.
What Do I Do if Someone is Arrested for DUI in Manatee County?
The Manatee County Courthouse was just replaced in 2011, and now the new court tower stands next to the historic courthouse on Manatee Avenue in downtown Bradenton. If your loved one is arrested for DUI, eventually they will end up at Port Manatee Jail. It is a long way from the downtown courthouse, located at 2705 County Line Road in Palmetto. You will have to wait eight hours after the arrest to bond your person out. But if you post the bond before the person goes to First Appearance in front of a judge, you will minimize the possibility that something bad will happen then. (The usual bond on a standard first-offense DUI is $500)
There is no doubt that Manatee County is a hidden gem of Florida's gulf coast. But as we all know, even in paradise, reality can intrude. If that happens, the Hudson Law Office stands by to help.
