Venice, Florida is the home of the County Court of Sarasota, South County Division. Misdemeanor cases (like most DUI's) can be heard in the South County court, which is located in the R. L. Anderson Administration Building, at 4000 South Tamiami Trail, Venice.
Venice is a wealthy and conservative community, with some of the nicest beaches on the Gulf Coast. The downtown is very walkable and hosts festivals and art shows throughout the winter months. Shoppers will find a great variety of merchandise in colorful shops in the immediate downtown, including Venice, Tampa and Miami Avenues. Many of these shops are located in historic buildings which were built in the 1920's, some of which are on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
DUI cases in which the arrest was made in southern Sarasota County, including Venice, Nokomis or North Port will be heard in the Venice Courthouse of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit of Florida. One judge of the Sarasota County Court is assigned to the South County division, usually for one year at a time.
